To provide a compact article cutting-off device having a simple structure, capable of securely cutting off a preceding article from a following article.
On an outer peripheral part of a wheel 21, there are formed multiple contact parts 23 to be in contact with a conveyed article (container) C, at regular intervals along a circumferential direction. A part of the outer peripheral part of the wheel 21 is located over a transportation conveyor 10. An engagement member 27 is provided near the contact part 23, so as to be able to vibrate. A cam 24 and a cam follower 28 serving as engagement member drive means vibrate the engagement member 27 between a first position corresponding to the contact part 23 in a rotation direction of the wheel 21, and a second position ahead of the contact part 23 in the rotation direction, to cut off a preceding container C from a following container D.
