PURPOSE: To prevent swinging of an elevation table to improve the positioning precision in an article transfer device in which the elevation table is elevated by a belt.

CONSTITUTION: A travelling carriage 11 is freely movable along a track rail 10. An elevation table 13 is suspended to the carriage 11 by a plural metal belts 12 to be driven to elevate by winding or delivering the belts 12. Bent hooks 23, 33 are provided at the carriage 11 and the elevation table 13 for forming the belts 12 to curve in the width direction. The belts 12 are curved along in the width direction, so their bending rigidity is increased.
