To provide an effective method for treating a female suffering from female sexual dysfunction (FSD), in particular, female sexual arousal dysfunction (FSAD).

The method comprises assaying an agent capable of potentiating cAMP in the genital argans of the female suffering from the female sexual dysfunction, in particular, female sexual arousal dysfunction. The agent is an inhibitor of a neutral endopeptidase (I:NEP). The method includes an anesthetized female animal including a means for measuring change in blood flow in the genital organs of the animal accompanied with pelvic nerve stimulation.
