To provide an atmosphere control method for a heating furnace, which stabilizes combustion in regenerative burners, and prevents rapid combustion, when an air ratio in the furnace is transferred from a low air ratio to a high air ratio, or transferred from the high air ratio to the low air ratio.
In this atmosphere control method of the heating furnace for heating a heated object by alternate combustion in a pair of regenerative burners, the combustion is performed while alternately switching the pair of regenerative burners, and the air ratio of the combustion air supplied to the pair of regenerative burners is raised with a prescribed ratio when the combustion of the pair of regenerative burners is transferred from the combustion of low air ratio to the combustion of high air ratio.
