Abstract:
To provide efficient and automated methods and systems that obtain a sample of microorganism from a colony and subject the obtained sample to multiple tests.SOLUTION: A method comprises an automated step of locating and selecting a colony of microorganisms on a culture dish, an automated step of obtaining a sample of the selected colony of microorganisms, and an automated step of automatically preparing a suspension of a sample of microorganisms by submerging in the suspension a pick tool having the sample, subsequently, the pick tool being vibrated in at least the vertical direction to release in the suspension the sample from the pick tool. An apparatus and a system optionally enable downstream processing of samples prepared for antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
