PURPOSE: To automate a series of works and enhance the accuracy in processing, by sensing the level of cutter with a scale fastened on a slide cylinder, operating a quil to support the cutter through a correction circuit, and thereby performing the correction of the tip position of cutter.
CONSTITUTION: A cutter 28 is set on the measuring base 11 to measure its amount of wear, i.e. the change in its tip position. The data obtained is compared with the reference value to calculate the amount of correction. A servo motor 23 is driven on the basis of this amount of correction and the tip position is corrected. Thus the wear of the cutter, etc. can be corrected as well as the life of the cutter can be watched by setting the limiting value for the wear of the cutter.
