PURPOSE: To provide an automatic inspection area setter in which an inspection are can be rapidly, accurately and easily set.

CONSTITUTION: The inspection area automatic setter comprises a projection data calculator 15 for obtaining each injection data indicating a density added value of x-axis and y-axis directions from imaged data obtained by a CCD camera 11, a central point calculator 19 for obtaining coordinates of a central point of the image data from the projection data obtained by the calculator 15, and a point calculator 21 for obtaining coordinates of a central point of an object to be inspected from the projection data. Further, the setter comprises an inspecting area setting unit 23 for setting an inspection area of the object to be inspected simultaneously based on the coordinates of the point of the imaged data obtained by the calculator 19 and the coordinates of the point of the object to be inspected obtained by the calculator 21.
