This automatic programming device 101 includes a tool attitude defining part 140 for defining a tool attitude to a processing area shape, and this tool attitude defining part 140 also comprises a tool attitude determining point extracting part for extracting a point for determining the tool attitude from information on a shape element for constituting the processing area shape by a predetermined method and a tool attitude arithmetic operation part for determining the tool attitude at the point for determining the tool attitude by the predetermined method, and can define the tool attitude for a tool passage of the NC machine tool having the turning shaft, and can form the NC program by the simple operation without using a CAM.
