PURPOSE: To resume continuous operation when the operation is forcibly interrupted for an automatic string remover by a method wherein binding strings intermixed in bound waste newspaper, waste magazines or the like are removed by blowing and sucking that are made to a string-removing drum with an ejection nozzle and a suction nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: Bound waste newspaper, waste magazines or the like thrown into a throw-in conveyer are unbound in a crusher 3 with binding strings or the like cut, and the waste newspaper, waste magazines or the like mixed with cut strings are transferred to a string remover 6 through a conveyer 5. The string remover 6 is equipped with a string-removing drum 7 and an air ejection nozzle 8 and a suction nozzle 9 that are arranged over the upper half of the periphery of the string-removing drum on positions separating from each other in the rotative direction. The suction nozzle 9 is connected to a suction port of a blower through a string-removing filter chamber, and the air ejection nozzle 8 is made to communicate with an air duct 14 connected to an exhaust port of the blower. Since the picked up strings are removed continuously from the string-removing drum, works for removal of the strings can be made continuously.
