Title:
AUTOMATIC TELLER MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2006301903
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an automatic teller machine for shortening time to perform individual identification by using biological information.

The machine comprises a biological information determining means for determining the necessity of biological authentication of a user; a biological authentication processing mode for performing biological authentication processing by checking the biological information of the user acquired from a biological information reading part with the biological information of users registered in a storage part in advance; and an IC card authentication processing mode for authenticating if an IC card is genuine when the card to be used is the IC card. When the biological authentication is needed in accordance with a determination result from the determining means, the machine performs first processing to identify the user itself in the biological authentication processing mode, and when the biological authentication is not needed, it performs second processing to identify the user itself in the IC card authentication processing mode. The machine can shorten the processing time of a transaction by conducting the card authentication and the biological authentication in parallel, and eliminate the processing of the card authentication to an IC chip. Even when the biological authentication cannot be performed, as long as the card authentication to the IC chip can be performed, the machine can perform a minimum of the transaction.
