An automatic vending machine 1 includes a hard currency processor 3 for receiving foreign and national hard currencies, discriminating them and determining their authenticity and a communication function part 10 provided in the hard currency processor 3 for acquiring a conversion rate of the foreign currency to the national currency via an external network 5. The hard currency processor 3 converts an amount of received foreign hard currency into an amount of national hard currency based on the conversion rate acquired by the communication function part 10, transmits the converted amount information to a main control part 2 of the automatic vending machine 1 and pays change in the national hard currency, receiving a change payment command from the main control part 2.
