Abstract:
To prevent the generation of noise caused by the vibration of a catalyst case without causing an increase of weight in an internal combustion engine for automobiles.SOLUTION: A catalyst case 10 comprises a straight part 15, an inlet cone part 16 and an outlet cone part 17. The inlet cone part 16 and the outlet cone part 17 are connected to each other by insulators 23, 24 via brackets 21, 22. The cone parts 16, 17 possess high stiffness as features of their shapes; however, since both the cone parts are reinforced by being connected to each other by the insulators 23, 24, the catalyst case 10 is not deformed even if violent vibration acts thereon. Therefore, it can be prevented that noise is generated due to deformation. Since the insulators necessary for an internal combustion engine are employed as reinforcing materials in common, weight is not increased, thus becoming advantageous in terms of fuel economy.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
