Abstract:

PURPOSE: To decrease an NOx exhaust quantity and fuel consumption by arranging a valve means which opens and closes the communication parts between auxiliary chambers and cylinder inside parts, and increasing the number of the auxiliary chamber which is communicated with the cylinder sides according to the increase in engine load.

CONSTITUTION: When a high load condition of an engine is detected by a load sensor 52, valve driving controllers 24, 34 is controlled by a controller 5 so as to lower valves 23, 33 and auxiliary combustion chambers 2, 3 are communi cated with the inner part of a cylinder 1. At the same time, solenoid valves 25, 35 are opened and fuel is supplied to fuel injection nozzles 21, 31. A combus tion speed of uncombusted gas is quickened, and fuel consumption is decreased. At the time of low middle load of the engine, only one of the valve 33 and solenoid valve 35 is closed, and all fuel is supplied to only one of the fuel injec tion nozzle 31. Oxygen inside a large auxiliary combustion chamber 3 is de creased so as to decrease the generation quantity of NOx.
