Abstract:
To provide an auxiliary power unit and a steering device that can suppress a reduction in steering feeling in a variable gear ratio steering device.SOLUTION: An auxiliary power unit 40 is intended to supply power to a motor 21 of an EPS. The EPS is a variable gear ratio steering device configured to vary a specific stroke in accordance with a steering angle of a steering wheel. The auxiliary power unit 40 includes: an auxiliary power source 100 that assists power supply of a main power source 50 supplying power to the motor 21; and FET 1 to FET 5 that switch an operation state of the auxiliary power source 100 to a discharge state in a case where it is expected that motor torque to be generated by the motor 21 during rotation of the motor 21 exceeds the maximum motor torque that the motor 21 can output by the main power source 50 during rotation of the motor 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
