PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backing paper for floor material improving surface smoothness of a surface after expandable vinyl chloride sol is expanded, adding dense and beautiful image of a printed surface as the floor material and good in adhesiveness with the expandable vinyl chloride sol, having no concern of paper breaking in an expandable vinyl chloride coating and expanding process by enhancing tensile strength and less concern to a manufacturing process.SOLUTION: There is provided a backing paper for floor material containing a glass fiber, a wood pulp and a binder fiber, where the first surface layer is a layer containing the wood pulp and no glass fiber, a second surface layer is a layer containing the glass fiber, the wood pulp and the binder fiber and the second surface layer contains unstretched polyethylene terephthalate fiber having the melting point of 200°C or more as the binder fiber, and having a coating layer in a side of the second surface layer, where the percentage content of the unstretched polyethylene terephthalate fiber having the melting point of 200°C or more is preferably 3 to 30 mass% based on all fibers of the second surface layer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
