A ball screw includes: an inner ball screw mechanism; and an outer ball screw mechanism. The inner ball screw mechanism has a screw shaft 1, an inner nut 2, and an inner ball 3, and the outer ball screw mechanism has a cylindrical member 4 coaxially and rotatably disposed on the inner nut 2 through a rolling bearing 7, an outer nut 5, and an outer ball 6. Further the ball screw includes: a switching mechanism for switching two states, that is, a first state where the inner nut 2 and the cylindrical member 4 are integrally connected, and the outer nut 5 is mounted relatively rotatably to the cylindrical member 4, and a second state where the cylindrical member 4 and the outer nut 5 are integrally connected, and the inner nut 2 is mounted relatively rotatably to the cylindrical member 4.
