PURPOSE: To obtain a base fabric for tufted carpet, excellent in tufting processability and dimensional stability in dyeing or backing with a resin and consisting essentially of polyester filaments by respectively specifying the warp tensile strength and weft tensile strength.
CONSTITUTION: This base fabric for tufted carpets is obtained by controlling the strength of selvedge parts in the base fabric of a nonwoven fabric consisting essentially of polyester filaments, regulating the warp tensile strength to ≥13kg/5cm and the weft tensile strength under conditions for heating at 120°C to ≤10kg/5cm. The resultant base fabric is good in tentering and setting properties in dyeing and drying with slight breadth shrinkage by heat treatment before backing and good in redyeing stability, etc.
