Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation system capable of easily switching damper performance depending on presence or absence of seismic movement and being easily applied to a skyscraper building having a large aspect ratio.SOLUTION: A base isolation system comprises: an isolator 3 which is arranged between a substructure 1 and a superstructure 2 and allows the superstructure 2 to be displaced in a horizontal direction with respect to the substructure 1; a damper 4 which has a friction member 41 installed between the substructure 1 and the superstructure 2 and pressed down by a sliding plate 40 and a vertical load acting on the sliding plate 40 due to the superstructure 2 and generates reaction force against horizontal displacement of the superstructure 2; a sensor 5 which detects seismic movement; and an axial force alleviation device 6 which is activated in accordance with output of the sensor 5 and controls pressing force of the sliding plate 40 on the friction member 41 by forming a pressure layer of pressurized fluid between the substructure 1 and the superstructure 2.
