PURPOSE: To provide the basis weight profile-controlling device of a paper making machine used for producing paper good in basis weight profile with a device for controlling the lateral local basis weight of the paper with air.

CONSTITUTION: This basis weight profile-controlling device of a paper making machine comprises a basis weight-controlling device using a conventional head box (slice lip opening degree) and a lateral local position basis weight-controlling device using air. A part corresponding to a control with the head box is deducted from a detected weight basis profile, and on the basis of the determined local change degree, a position for controlling with air is selected.
