To provide a batch packed distillation method which is capable of making best possible use of the performance of batch packed distillation equipment by changing a reflux ratio so as to maintain the instantaneous minimum theoretical steps always constant from the beginning to the end of batch packed distillation and is capable of improving a recovery rate by efficiently effecting the batch packed distillation of a distillation stock solution under conditions under which separation performance is optimized without requiring enormous repetitive calculations and the batch packed distillation equipment for the same.

The batch packed distillation method of separating the distillation stock solution containing a light key component of a low boiling point and a heavy key component of a high boiling point to a distillate and a residue respectively at prescribed recovering rates while performing a reflux operation by using a batch packed distillation column comprises using the batch packed distillation column having theoretical steps N greater than the minimum theoretical steps Sm-1 defined by (mathematical expression 1) and performing the distillation by regulating the reflux ratio in the reflux operation to make the instantaneous minimum theoretical steps SM defined by (mathematical expression 2) coincident with the minimum theoretical steps Sm.
