Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery power unit, in which battery pack blocks, each of the block being formed by connecting two or more storage batteries in series, are connected in series and in parallel, and to provide a method for detecting its total charging or discharging current.
SOLUTION: The state of operation of two or more battery pack blocks 1a to 1f connected in series and in parallel are monitored by a plurality of batteries ECU 2a to 2f, respectively, based on detection of the voltage, current, and temperature. By adding the detected outputs by the current sensors arranged in the charging or discharging circuit of each of the battery pack blocks 1a to 1f in the state of analog data before carrying out A/D conversion about the battery pack blocks 1a, 1c, and 1e connected in parallel, it is possible to detect the total charging or discharging current of the battery power unit.
