Abstract:
To obtain a new bleaching material, and to provide a skin care preparation for external use using the same that not only exerts excellent effects on preventing and ameliorating dyspigmentation but also is free from any concern about the safety to the skin and therefore is usable safely.
A benzofuran derivative is provided, being represented by formula(I)( wherein, R1 and R2 are each H, OH or a 1-4C alkyloxy, or bound to each other to form an alkylenedioxy group with a carbon chain number of 1-2; R3, R4 and R5 are each a 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C alkenyl, and bonds represented by broken lines may be present or absent ). The skin care preparation for external use contains this benzofuran derivative, being applicable as e.g. a cosmetic for bleaching.
