To provide a compound having hypolipemic action, such as squalene synthase inhibitory action (cholesterol decreasing action) and triglyceride decreasing action, safer and stronger than ever, and useful as a medicament of a prophylactic, a remedy, etc., for hyperlipemia.
This compound expressed by formula [I] [ring A and ring B are each a benzene ring which may be substituted; ring C is an aromatic ring which may be further substituted; R1 is a lower alkyl which may be substituted and may be substituted by hydroxy; X1a is a bond or a lower alkylene; X1b is a bond or a lower alkylene; X2 is a bond, -O- or -S-; X3 is a bond or a divalent hydrocarbon residue which may be substituted; and Y is carboxy which may be esterified or amidated] or its salt is provided. The medicament contains the compound or the salt.
