To provide a battery having a particularly high discharge capacity and small change with the lapse of time of discharge capacity by including polysaccharides composed of a D-glucose structural unit having a 1,4-linkage and a 1,6-linkage and an organic liquid substance in a binder composition.
Polysaccharides are desirably modified starch and/or pullulan, the polysaccharids are hydroxypropyl etherification starch and/or pullulan, and is also a binder composition containing polymer particles. Slurry for an electrode is desirably formed by mixing a carbonaceous active material with the binder composition, and the electrode is formed by applying and drying this slurry. Aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene, aliphatic hydrocarbons such as heptadecane, cyclic aliphatic hydrocarbons such as cyclohexane and methyl cyclohexane and ketones such as methyl eathyl ketone and cycloheptanon are cited as an actual example of an organic liquid substance.
