PURPOSE: To perform judgement rapidly without generating irregularity in results by calculating an imaging area by applying image processing to the mark on the surface of an article to be processed and calculating the shift quantity of a processing position from the comparison with the entire area of a preliminarily printed mark to perform judgement.
CONSTITUTION: Yarn S as a processing material and a positional shift detection mark M2 having a color sufficiently taking the contrast with the surface of a printed book are applied to the surface of the printed book being an article to be processed at a processing scheduled position. This positional shift detection mark M2 is caught in a stationary image state from above by a CCD camera to perform image processing. By this method, the area of the mark part is measured and the measured result is compared with an internally set upper limit value to make it possible to judge the degree of positional shift. Further, positional shift quantity itself is operated with high accuracy by the calibration of the area incremental quantity and processing positional shift quantity of the mark part to be outputted and can be also used in processing position correction feedback.
