Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the subject blow-molded article made of a polyphenylene ether resin having a specific number-average molecular weight and containing a specific amount of a specific cyclic terminal group, having excellent heat- resistance and surface appearance and uniform wall thickness and suitable as heat-resistant container. CONSTITUTION:The objective blow-molded article can be produced by blow- molding a polyphenylene ether resin having a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-100,000 (preferably 10,000-30,000), containing >=0.01 (preferably >=0.2 and up to the whole terminal groups) cyclic terminal groups of formula III based on 100 phenylene ether constituent units and produced by heating a polyphenylene ether polymer having terminal group of formula I (R1 to R5 are H, alkyl, halogen, etc.; R10 and R11 are H, alkyl, etc.) and an unsaturated compound of formula II (R6 to R9 are H, alkyl, alkenyl, etc.) (e.g. styrene) in the absence of a radical polymerization initiator at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the polymer.
