PURPOSE: To obtain a bonded can body for food cans, which has a coating film having excellent corrosion resistance, adhesion, etc., by coating one side of a tin-free steel plate with a base coat and a top coat by using paints having specified compositions, and then bonding the coated steel plate to form a tube.
CONSTITUTION: One side of a tin-free steel plate is coated with a base coat in a film thickness of 5W70mg/dm2 by using a paint consisting of 10W40wt% phenol/ formaldehyde resin having an unreacted free phenol content of 3.5W 8wt% and 90W60wt% bisphenol/epichlorohydrin resin. Then the steel plate is coated with a top coat in a film thickness of 30W150 mg/dm2 by using a paint consisting of 5W30wt% phenol/formaldehyde resin having an unreacted free phenol content of 3wt% or below and 95W70wt% bisphenol/epichlorohydrin resin. The coated steel plate is bonded to form a tube, thereby obtaining the titled can body.
