Abstract:

To enable a process in which a hotmelt adhesive applied on the backing of a bookbinding tape is heated or vibrated until bubbles are generated to secure the book-binding strength without thickening the adhesive.

In a bookbinding apparatus equipped with sticking means 24, 25 for sticking a bookbinding tape to a bundle of sheets and heating means 21, 22, 23 for heating the tape, the tape is constituted by applying a hotmelt adhesive 8000mPa.S(cPs)/(160°C) or less in melt viscosity, and the tape is heated by the heating means 21, 22, 23 until bubbles are generated in the adhesive layer to bind a book.
