Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a brake device for a chain saw which can stop the rotation of a blade quickly at the time of switch OFF of a motor.
CONSTITUTION: A brake drum 21 is clamped up by a brake band 23 to stop a fan C by operating a hand guard 17 and pulling a front end 23b of the brake band 23 while disposing the brake band 23 in a manner of encircling the brake drum 21. A rear end 23a of the brake band 23 is fixed to a bending rod 41 and also the bending rod 41 is energized backward by a coil spring, and the brake drum 21 is clamped up at all times by the brake band 23 at the time of OFF. A rocking member 51 being in contact with a trigger lever 15 is rocked forward by pushing in the trigger lever 15, by which the bending rod 41 is pressed forward to loosen the brake band 23.
