Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device in which a friction material alone can be replaced without using a dedicated tool, and an elevator apparatus using the blake device.SOLUTION: A brake device is provided in an elevator apparatus or the like, for pressing a brake member 10 against a body to be braked 8 for braking. The brake member includes a friction material 18 having such a shape that a cross-sectional area at a brake face side is smaller than that of a counter-brake face side, a brake shoe 19 that is engaged with the friction material in a direction perpendicular to the brake face, a pressing member 20 that holds the friction material between itself and the brake shoe, a flat spring 21 that holds the brake shoe in a direction perpendicular to the brake face, an elastic body 22 disposed between the brake shoe and the pressing member so as to hold the friction material by the brake shoe and the pressing member with elastic force, and an opening 23 formed in the brake shoe so as to put and take the friction material therein and therefrom in the radial direction of the body to be braked.
