Abstract:
To provide a brake device which can be contracted in an outside diameter, permits the rotation of a rotating member in one direction in a lock state, makes the rotation in the other direction impossible, and can release the lock state of the rotating member.SOLUTION: A brake device 50 has a first star ratchet gear 51 which is drive-connected to a second drive shaft 62, a second star ratchet gear 52 non-rotatably drive-connected to a coil case 55C, and a separation/contact device 59 for making the ratchet gears contact with and separate from each other. The brake device permits the rotation of the second drive shaft 62 in one direction in a state that the first star ratchet gear 51 and the second ratchet gear 52 are engaged with each other while being made to abut on each other, and locks the second drive shaft so as to be impossible in rotation in the other direction. The brake device permits the rotation of the second drive shaft 62 in both the directions in a state that the engagement is released by making the first star ratchet gear 51 and the second star ratchet gear 52 separate from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
