Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly accurate brake lining abrasion detecting device with the simple constitution.
SOLUTION: In an expander 50 in a drum brake, a sleeve 56 is expanded in the lateral direction in a drawing by a wedge 52 inserted into a housing 51 at brake operating time, a shoe locked on a clip 58 is rocked, and a lining 23 is pressed to a drum to be frictionally braked. When a moving distance of the sleeve 56 increases since the lining 23 is abraded, the sleeve 56 rotates by the interaction with a drive ring 62 meshing with the sleeve outer periphery to deliver a pressing screw 57 threadedly engaging with this sleeve by a moving distance increase quantity (a lining abrasion quantity). A flat surface 56c is formed on a sleeve outer peripheral surface, and a detecting head 80 of a displacement detecting device detects rotation of the sleeve 56. A controller performs warning operation by a warning means when an integral rotating speed of the sleeve 56 reaches a prescribed rotating speed.
