Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable a brake pad temperature estimating device and a wheel slip controller using the same to accurately estimate the temperature of a brake pad and perform optimum brake control without fluctuations in control force.
CONSTITUTION: A first temperature increase calculation means M2 calculates the temperature increase of a brake pad that is in accord with the speed of normal braking. A second temperature increase calculation means M3 calculates the temperature increase of the brake pad that is in accord with a braking force during brake control and the speed of a driving wheel. A temperature decrease estimation means M4 calculates the temperature decrease of the brake pad that is in accord with wheel speed while not under braking or brake control. A temperature estimation means M5 estimates the temperature of the brake pad from the temperatures calculated by the first and second temperature increase calculation means and by the temperature decrease calculation means, and a brake control means M1 performs brake control based on the estimated temperature of the brake pad.
