Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stabilize the braking action of a reel-braking apparatus over a long period under a severe condition liable to cause the contamination with seawater, sand, etc., and to improve the durability of the apparatus by using a rolling member as a front-drag type braking member of a spinning reel for fishing.
CONSTITUTION: A braking member holding part 5 having tapered inner circumference is fixed to a recess 4 of a spool 2 of a spinning reel for fishing. Another braking member holding part 6 having tapered outer circumference is attached to a spool shaft 3 in such a manner as to be positioned opposite to the former braking member holding part 5 and movable exclusively in the axial direction. A rolling member 7 is placed between both braking member holding parts 5, 6 and the position of the braking member holding part 6 is restricted by a braking force controlling knob 8 attached to the spool shaft 3. The braking power to the reverse rotation of the spool 3 can be controlled by controlling the rolling and sliding friction resistance of the rolling member 7.
