Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quicken restoration from interruption of communication by instantaneously coping with it when revision of a communication path takes place.
SOLUTION: A bridge D detecting link-down of a root port takes a role of a root bridge and transmits Bridge Protocol Data Units(BPDU) whose root ID is revised into its own MAC address to a bridge C. Upon the receipt of BPDU having root bridge information inferior to its own root bridge information from the bridge D, the bridge C takes a role of the root bridge, transmits its own BPDU so as to allow a closed port B to immediately transit to a forwarding state. The bridge D receives BPDU superior to its own BPDU from the bridge C and stops a role of the root bridge and transmits TCN-BPDU to the bridge C. The TCN-BPDU are propagated to a bridge A via a bridge B. Upon the receipt of the TCN-BPDU, the root bridge A immediately transmits the BPDU, to which a TC detection flag is set, to all ports. Bridges B-E receiving the BPDU, to which a TC detection flag is set, immediately delete the contents of a forwarding table.
