To provide a brush end polishing apparatus for polishing the ends of individual filaments forming a brush nearly in a circular shape.
A support frame is equipped with a planetary gear mechanism 3 composed of a sun gear 33, an internal gear 34, and a plurality of planetary gears 35 meshing with the sun gear and the internal gear and arranged at an equal interval in the circumferential direction, and each planetary gear 35 is equipped with a holder for an inter-dental brush 11. Along a circumferential moving locus on the axis of a sun gear of a brush 14 of the inter-dental brush held on the holder of the planetary gear, an arcuate polishing sheet 52 is arranged, and an interlocking mechanism is interlocked with the rotation of the sun gear for reciprocating the arcuate polishing sheet along the arcuate face of said polishing sheet in association with the rotation of the sun gear. Moreover, the sun gear is rotated with the internal gear being fixed on the support frame, so that the inter-dental brush is rotated on a longitudinal axis through the revolving planetary gear and circumferentially moved through the rotating planetary gear. At this time, the brush end is brought into substantial contact with the polishing sheet moving reciprocally, so that the brush end is polished substantially roundly over the whole circumference.
