To provide an easy building foundation construction method which eliminates the need for assembling a formwork for foundation construction and allows the workload at a construction site to be reduced with a substantially shortened construction period by using materials with sizes which can be manually handled and constructed, and a raised block for use in the method.
Raised steel bars P and P... are embedded in parallel with each other on the top face of a flat mat foundation B so as to project upward. A raised block 1 made of a hollow concrete block includes: openings 11 and 12 in the top face and the bottom face, respectively; side wall parts 13 and 13 on both side faces, respectively; and a side face opening 14 at least one place between the side wall parts 13 and 13. Concrete is filled in each of the raised blocks 1 from the opening 11 in the top face so as to be cured. The mat foundation B and the opening 12 in the bottom face are thus integrally bound and the side face openings 14 and 14 of the neighboring raised blocks 1 and 1 are also integrally bound to each other.
