Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable a cam to be fixed in a camshaft firmly by providing, on the internal surface of a camshaft inserting hole in a cam for intake and exhaust valves, a concave part which slants gently inwards from the side of the cam, and then providing, on a hollow camshaft which is inserted into the hole, a convex part in such a manner that its periphery is in parallel with the periphery of the recessed part. CONSTITUTION:In fixing a cam 3 for driving intake and exhaust valves in a hollow camshaft 2, on both sides of a camshaft inserting hole 4 in the cam 3 are provided recessed parts 10 which slant gently inwards from the side 9 of the cam respectively. The cam 3 is placed on a fixed position in a dent within a female mold 12 before it is covered with a male mold 11. A hollow camshaft 16 is inserted into the hole 4 in the cam 3 before pressure oil is fed through a hole 14. The hollow camshaft 16 is expanded from the inside so as to bite into the recessed parts 10 provided on both sides of the camshaft inserting hole 4 in the cam 3, and accordingly, the two are fixed together firmly.
