Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bumper structure for an automobile to improve damage resisting performance of a car body and protection performance for a pedestrian during the occurrence of vehicle collision even when a longitudinal length is shortened.
SOLUTION: In this bumper structure for an automobile, a reinforce 2 is arranged in the vicinity of a bumper facial 1, and the reinforce 2 and a car body front part 4 are intercoupled by a bumper stay 3 different in a strength in a longitudinal direction. By providing structure wherein an external load is rapidly transmitted to the reinforce 2, an initial degree deceleration wave form is caused to rapidly rise and forms an optimum wave form approximately equal to a rectangular wave. Further, sequently to an initial mass effect, as a result of a low strength bumper stay 3 being crashed and deformed, an energy absorption amount is formed approximately in a rectangular shape.
