PURPOSE: To improve the heat radiation efficiency by a method wherein protrusions are formed on a ceramic plane plate having many penetrating holes, the total area of top surfaces of the protrusions is made to be less than some value for the whole surface area of the plane plate.
CONSTITUTION: A burner plate 5 is made by two-stage process, i.e. the first stage is the forming of a ceramic plane plate having many penetrating holes 8, and the second stage is the forming of protrusions 6 on the surface thereof. The total area of the top surface of the protrusions 6 is made to be less than 1/2 of the projected area of the plane plate. Thereby, the burner plate having following performances can be obtained, that is, a high radiation efficiency, a wide variable width of heating value, a reduced color irregularity, a shortened red-hot time at the firing and the easiness in manufacturing.
