Abstract:

PURPOSE: To securely prevent the knocking by applying a change to an ignition time correcting means so as to avoid the knocking in the predetermined operation condition on the basis of the output of an operation condition detecting means or the output of an in-cylinder pressure detecting means.
CONSTITUTION: Stability of burning condition is judged by a burning stability judging means 53 on the basis of the output of an in-cylinder pressure detecting means 52, and the fuel supply quantity is controlled at the lean air-fuel ratio by a burning condition control means 54 so as to maintain the burning stability near the stability limit. Simultaneously, ignition time is corrected by an ignition time correcting means 56 so that the crank angle, which is detected by an in-cylinder maximum pressure crank angle detecting means 55, coincides with the target value. When the generation of knocking is detected on the basis of the output of an operation condition detecting means 51 or the in-cylinder pressure detecting means 52, ignition time is corrected by the ignition time correction changing means 57 so as to avoid the knocking, and the generation of knocking is thereby prevented.
