Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burst mode optical reception system that has reduced waveform distortion and enhances reception capability with respect to an extinction ratio.
SOLUTION: The burst mode optical reception system that receives a burst mode optical signal and converts it into an electric signal, is provided with an amplifier 3 that has a feedback variable resistor 101, receives a current signal resulting from photoelectric conversion by a light receiving element and amplifies linearly the current signal, with a nonlinear element 102 that allows the amplifier to act nonlinear amplification and with a feedback resistor control section 14 that allows the amplifier to act nonlinear amplification, monitors input signal strength on the basis of a level of an output signal of the amplifier and controls the feedback variable resistor corresponding to the monitored input signal strength to allow the amplifier to act linear amplification.
