Abstract:

To provide a butt-jointing method capable of uniformizing the size of metal mass around the butt ends of the jointing members and smoothing the surface in the jointing process.

A pair of jointing members 2a, 2b are arranged in a butting state, a tubular refractory material 4 is arranged around the two butting ends 3a, 3b, the both butting ends 3a, 3b are heated, and in the heated and melted state, the both butting ends 3a, 3b are pressed to each other. Then, the relative movement amount of the two joining members 2a, 2b in the press attachment direction is controlled to keep constant.
