To prepare a cake powder cosmetic having good gloss, easily transferable to an applicator such as sponge and mat in use, lightly spreadable on the skin, imparting the skin with luster and having excellent impact resistance (impact resistance in the case of dropping the cosmetic on the floor or carrying the cosmetic in a handbag).

This cake powder cosmetic is produced by mixing a cosmetic base with a solvent to form a slurry, filling the slurry in a vessel and removing the solvent to dryness. The cosmetic base is compounded with (a) a flaky silica having an average plane diameter of 0.1-10μm and an average thickness of 0.005-1μm of the secondary particle and (b) 40-95 mass% plate powder other than the flaky silica.
