The camera having an electronic preview function is provided with an image pickup means 2 for imaging a subject, a strobo light emission means 4 for casting a strobo light to the subject, a quantity of light emission setting means for setting the quantity of light emission smaller than an adequate quantity of light emission to the strobo light emission means, an imaging control means for controlling the imaging operation of the imaging means and light emission operation of the strobo light emission means during the imaging operation, an image processing means 3 for adjusting the brightness of an image acquired by the imaging means, and a display means 7 for displaying an electronic image whose brightness is adjusted by the image processing means.
