When the camera head 1a is mounted, a main body CPU 100b sends a request to send communication specifications to the side of the camera head 1a by controlling a 3-line serial I/F 151b. When communication specifications are sent back to the camera main body from the camera head, the main body CPU 100b of the camera main body side refers to communication specifications of the high-speed serial I/F 150b of the camera main body side and specifications of high-speed serial I/F 150a of the camera head side and sets communication specifications which are common to the both.
