Thereafter, after a quick return mirror is moved to an up position, imaging by an imaging element 119 is executed so as to be synchronized with light emission by the respective external flash units 200a, 200b and 200c, and imaging by the imaging element 119 is executed so as to be synchronized in the state that all the external flash units 200a, 200b and 200c are not emitting light thereafter. Images obtained through the imaging element 119 are preserved in an SDRAM 124.
