The digital camera first determines a photographic range of an entire image and determines how many partial images the determined photographic range of the entire image should be composed of. When the number of partial images to be photographed is determined, the digital camera determines a zoom angle of view of a zoom lens required for covering the photographic range of the entire image with the determined number of partial images. The digital camera adjusts the zoom angle of view of the zoom lens to make an imaging device image the partial images and combines the plurality of captured partial images to obtain an entire composite image.
