To miniaturize a camera which uses a sheet-like recording medium.

A camera head 3 is reciprocatory attached to the front part of a camera body 2. The camera head 3 comprises a lens barrel 4, an imaging lens built inside it, a CCD, and the like. A pack loading chamber 24 is provided behind the camera head 3, and a print head 27 is fixed between it and a development roller 14. An imaging signal which is photoelectric-converted by the CCD is converted into a digital image data, and based on it, the print head 27 allows an instant film 13 during discharge to be exposed for recording an image. When a film pack 17 is loaded, a rear end part 3a of the camera head 3 is positioned on a retracted position just before abutting the instant film 13 in the film pack 17. When the film pack 17 is not loaded, the rear end part 3a of the camera head 3 is moved as far as a barrel-sinking position inside the pack loading chamber 24.
