To provide a camshaft supporting structure capable of enhancing the lubricating oil retainability of a roller bearing and supplying the lubricating oil mainly into a load area.
This camshaft supporting structure comprises a camshaft 19, a cylinder head 13 and a bearing cap 13c as a housing, and a needle-like roller bearing 21 as a roller bearing for rotatably supporting the camshaft 19. The needle-like roller bearing 21 comprises an outer ring formed by circumferentially arranging, continuously with each other, arcuate outer ring members 22a, 22b having flange parts 22d projecting from the axial end toward the radial inward and needle-like rollers as rollers disposed along the inner diameter surface of the outer ring. The camshaft 19 has a load area and a non-load area in the circumferential direction. A cutout part 22i passing through in the axial direction is formed in the flange part 22d positioned in the load area when assembled in the crankshaft 19.
